Ghost Tours of Placerville, CA

Come meet Placerville's spirited residents - mostly departed - on our
hour-long walking tour.

During the Gold Rush days, Placerville was known as Hangtown.
Many people, fine and disreputable, ambled  up and
down Main Street.

Some are still hanging around.

Scare up the good times with this ghost tour.

One-hour walking tours occur year-round at 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm on
           Friday and Saturday nights in.

  •   6:30 pm tours begin the 594 Main Street and end by 300 Main Street at 7:30 pm.

  • 8:00 pm tours begin by 300 Main Street and end by 594 Main Street at 9:00 pm.

  • Price is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children (3-15 years old)
  • Children 2 years and younger are free (limit 1 child per paying adult). While entertaining, some stories might be intense for younger children.
  • Tours are limited to 35people first come/first scared
  • Private individual and group tours welcomed and easy to arrange.

Good things to know:
  • Tips are gratefully accepted by our guides

  • Cell phones and other devices will need to be turned off during the tour.
  • As this is a walking tour, sensible shoes are advised.
  • No pets are allowed on the tour.  Contact us for our "Bark n' Boo" tour.
  • Tours run in the rain (adds to the atmosphere). Bring an umbrella.
  • Nearby ATMs are Wells Fargo, Bank of AmericaUS Bank and El Dorado Savings.
  • A portion of every public tour ticket price is donated to preserving Main Street.
  • To keep our reasonable rates a waiver releasing us from any damage needs to be signed prior to the tour. Unfortunately, without a signed waiver, you cannot take a tour.
  • No one under the age of 18 is allowed on a tour without adult supervision.
  • We do not enter any businesses along the route in search of spirits. Unless you are a customer, we ask you extend the same courtesy after leaving the tour.
Important rules:

Disturbing the spirits, from howling in a stroller to trash talking, etc. is not tolerated.

No open containers of alcohol, from flasks to bottles of wine and "coffee" mugs are allowed on our tours.  It is against the law.

We are here for the boos - not the booze.

We gladly welcome you coming from one of our wineries, or having enjoyed a bit of bubbly or wee dram with a pre-tour dinner.

In keeping with Placerville's history - the majority rules, and for the overall tour enjoyment, anyone found to be a disturbance or with an open container will be asked to leave the tour without a refund.
Considering our tours center around old Hangtown, we consider the policy pretty lenient.

We could be saying "Get a rope!"
